It's not often that anyone gets to say this, so I'm going to shout it from the blog post-able Mountain Tops!
OUR SESSION MEETING WAS EXCITING!!!
There, I said it. Yes, it is possible for a session meeting to be fun! Now, I should say that our session meetings are already pretty well run (thanks, Nora!), and that we have always had meaningful and spirit-led conversation. (Disclaimer: I've been to 3 session meetings so far :-)). But this particular session meeting was more than the usual.
As our session, and our congregation, discusses and figures out how we want to best support and minister to and with the community around us, I could not help but be overwhelmed at the sense of grace and humility within that room on Monday. Ideas were tossed around, no one was excluded, and (at least from what I could tell) every one felt heard. There was a mutual understanding that God is working in this congregation, and that great things are happening, have been happening, and will continue to happen in this community. And hopefully our congregation can help along the way.
Thanks be to God for this, and pray for our session as we continue our conversations about the future. May we be moved to action that furthers the kingdom.
